The Traverse City Children/Teen Theatre is a not-for-profit organization formed to educate and encourage the involvement of children and young adults in theater. It's not the end product that matters; it's the process!
SUMMER DRAMA CAMP
JULY 15 THROUGH 26 (PERFORMANCE 27TH)
There is great excitement with TCCT for the summer. We have put together a drama day camp for all 6' through 10' graders. There will be a limited number of students allowed to enroll. The exciting part is there will be three highly qualified instructors for this two week experience. Emilie Meyering has taught many theater classes for Grand Rapids Civic Theater and is a theater graduate from NYU. She will specialize in stage movement and acting techniques. Tom Johnson, perhaps better known to school audiences as TOMA, will work with characterization, acting and some Mime. He has extensive background teaching theater to young people. Kelly Curtis, who has taught with TCCT for many seasons, has directed and acted in several productions for OTP and served on the Artistic Board. She also performs around the state with murder mysteries. Kelly will work with improvisation, acting and some technical areas.
The day will last from 10:00 A.M to 3:30 P.M. As this newsletter goes to print planning continues with all three instructors joining the coordinator of TCCT, June Neal to determine the best experience for the students. The attempt is to make it an educational experience while showing that theater experiences are really fife experiences and should prepare the students for anything. The final planning will be made after the camp has the first meeting. The students will have a say in what is accomplished over the two weeks.
There will be a Showcase performance on Saturday July 27' at OTP. Exactly what this performance will be is yet to be determined. Some suggestions are, to write and put together a play with all students involved, or to show-off what has been learned with each of the instructors (a peek into the classes), or each person writing and performing a monologue, OR a combination of several ideas.
Turn to page 3 to sign up for this two week workshop. The cost will be $125 and a lunch will be needed each day. It is an experience not to be missed.
There continue to be a few people who support TCCT by contributing $100 to this tax-exempt organization. TCCT is under the umbrella of the 5010 of OTP. TCCT is the educational component of OTP. It is very costly to keep this program going to meet the needs of all Grand Traverse Area students from age 4 V2through 12' grade. Please consider giving $100 to be an Angel or any amount to help out.
