OTP SETS AUDITIONS FOR DEATH AND THE MAIDEN- 1/12-13
Ariel Dorfman Drama to Close Studio Theatre Season
TRAVERSE CITY --- Old Town Playhouse will be holding auditions for the studio
theatre production of Death and the Maiden on Monday, January 12, and
Tuesday, January 13, beginning at 7 p.m. All auditions will be held at the Old
Town Playhouse, in the lower level at the corner of Eighth and Cass Streets
in Traverse City.
Written by Ariel Dorfman, Death and the Maiden is a powerful psychological
thriller that focuses on a woman who was a political prisoner in a South American
country, a new democracy that has undergone a regime change. Her husband, an
official in this new government, comes home with a stranger that she believes
he is her former captor and in turn takes him hostage. In telling this story,
the author also addresses the dilemmas which touch all our lives: innocence
and evil, truth and lies, forgiveness, and revenge.
Death and the Maiden is being directed by Max Hobbs of Traverse City.
The play has roles for one woman, age 35 and older, and two adult men, age 40
and above. The woman must be able to drag a man across the floor then lift him
into a chair. Actors may obtain a perusal script at the Old Town Playhouse business
office with a $5 refundable deposit.
Performance dates are March 12-13, 18-20 and 25-27. Tickets will go on sale
on March 1.
